Faculty Development - The Issues:
1) There has been a serious decline in the ability of American students to effectively communicate, critically think, knowing how to learn, and maturing from the processes of education.
2) This process not only occurs in traditional educational settings, but also extends to training and developmental processes in organizations.
3) Unfortunately somehow it has been conveyed that people do not have to work to learn, but that somehow they are entitled and just have to be present in learning settings.
4) Old models of education - such as faculty-centered and content-centered education are not adequate to change the decline in student success and accomplishment.
5) A newly emerging model of learner-centered education is no educational model at all, but a customer oriented business model for support given to the learner.
