Organizational Sustainability - The Solutions:

We are advocates for the 3P model of sustainability that address the three elements that must be addressed in order to work toward effective sustainability. These elements include:

   1) The People;
   2) The Planet; and;
   3) The Profit;

All three of these elements are important and must be taken into account for an organization to be sustainable.

1) In this sense sustainability ensures that we don't do greater harm to the planet and treat the workforce as expendable.
2) Our approach to this is to identify the values, attitudes, and beliefs held by the organizational leadership and stakeholders associated with each of the three Ps. To be successful these values, attitudes, and beliefs must be aligned across all three elements.
3) This process typically begins by identifying the specific values associated with each of these elements and identifying where the commonalities are across all three areas. Once that has been accomplished this vision can be clarified to ensure that efforts in any of these areas are all moving in the same direction. The next step in the process leads to the identification of the mission or specific actions that will be taken to support the vision. Once that's done, it's a fairly simple process to identify alignment within the organization or those activities actually draw away from the vision and mission.
